CHRIS ANDERSEN VISITS BOSTON CELTICS
Sources have confirmed to WDSU sports that free agent center Chris “The Birdman” Andersen is in Boston visiting with Celtics executives.
Andersen played in just 5 games last season after returning to the NBA after serving a 2 year suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.
Andersen is a huge fan favorite in New Orleans and Hornets owner George Shinn has repeatedly said he’d like to see Andersen remain with the team.
The soon to be 30 year old Andersen is an unrestriced free agent, so the Hornets cannot match offers he receives from other franchises and if he leaves New Orleans, the Hornets will receive no compensation from the club that signs him.
Boston reportedly is interested in using Andersen as a back-up to center Kendrick Perkins and power forward Kevin Garnett. The primary back-up for those 2 players last year was former Hornet P.J. Brown who’s expected to retire from the NBA.

Celtics win without the Birdman, but could have gone back to the Finals with hime in 2009.
