Former LSU Tiger Gets Big Pay Day

The Colorado Rockies keep locking up the nucleus that took them to the World Series last season.
The Denver Post reported on Monday night that right fielder Brad Hawpe has agreed in principle to a three-year, $17 million deal. The contract will have a club option for 2011.

“Brad loves Denver and his teammates and wants to be part of what they are doing in Colorado,” Hawpe’s agent Danny Horwits said, according to the Post. “Plus, he has a young family. This provides him security for the rest of his life.”
A former LSU tiger, Hawpe and the Rockies avoided arbitration in January with a one-year, $3.925 million deal.
