Wonder What Happened To LSU Baseball?

I remember when I was in high school and college and the LSU Tiger baseball team was unstoppable. 18 College World Series appearances, 5 national championships.

Skip Bertman got every top player from every part of the country.
LSU’s back-up’s could have beaten any team in the state.

If you want to know why the team now struggles, look no further than player retention & development. They don’t keep good players and don’t develop the ones that do stay.
Here are 4 guys who left or were asked to leave LSU and are now thriving at other universities.

Jason Ogata, Oregon State: .478 with 3 homers in 6 games, hits in 3 hole for 2 time defending National Champions.

J.T. Wise, Oklahoma: .371 with 2 homers in 7 games, hits cleanup for the Sooners.

Robert Lara, Central Florida: .364 with 0 homers, has started every game behind plate a Knights team that is 7-0.

J.P. Padron, Rice: .364 with 3 homers and 11 RBi’s. Leads the Owls in both categories and hits clean up for top 5 ranked team.

  1. I hope that things improve for LSU’s Baseball team; I still remember when they were one of the best teams in college baseball.
