Sol Bowl

My brother Travers and I took part in the annual Sol Bowl bowling tournament at Colonial Lanes in Harahan on Sunday.

(Travers is wearing the white cap. He and I introduced in front of our lanes. Lanes #5 & #6…..I hate single digits, so since I’m weird and superstitious I was convinved my bowling would be bad ths day.)

The Sol Bowl benefits Special Olympics of Louisiana and is one of the best charity events we take part in.

Rene Nadeau with the NFL Players Association runs the event.

(Rene Nadeau, Travers, me and WDSU photographer Alvin Moore….Alvin is the 3rd Mackel).

The following are some pictuers from the big day:

(Saints defensive tackle Brian Young and his custom ball. Yes, it’s a skull inside of a clear ball!!!!!)

Brian Young is one of the more active Saints when it comes to charity work. Kudos to him for always stepping up.

(Former LSU Tiger and current Saints wide receiver Skyler Green signing an autograph).

A former quarterback during his days at Higgins High School Green had a nice lefty stroke with the bowling ball.

(Former Saints Tight End and current VooDoo Wide Receiver Zach Hilton, Travers’ finacee Lauren and VooDoo quarterback Danny Wimprine).

Wimprine of course played his prep football at John Curtis and then led the University of Memphis to it’s first bowl game in 31 years. That bowl game happened to be the New Orleans Bowl. The guy is just a winner and his emergence is maybe the best thing to ever happen to the VooDoo.

(Call the man behind the hat ‘the unknown sports anchor!’ This event also features rival sports guys from various local stations…this is one of them posing with Danny Wimprine)

(The final scores. You can see my 137 at the top. Down below you’ll see 93…..Travers! Even Lauren bowled a 105).
