The Hornets Need To Make A Trade

Yes, the Hornets went 2-2 on their difficult west coast road trip.

But lets be honest…the Hornets are too inconsistent offensively to be considered a threat in the Western Conference.

Can the Hornets win a 7 game playoff series?  Absolutely!

Can the Hornets get past the Lakers, Jazz or Spurs  in a 7 game series?  NO!

For the Hornets to surpass these three teams they need another scorer!

Chris Paul and David West had to combine for 70+ points in a win over the Lakers for the team to have a chance.  As amazing as Paul and West are (and they are great) they cannot be asked or expected to perform like that each and every game.

Peja Stojakovic has been inconsistent shooting, Tyson Chandler has taken a step back offensively and Rasual Butler and Morris Peterson cannot be counted on to carry any type of load on offense.  James Posey is a very clutch shooter but he’s never going to give a team 15-20 points a night.

So to me the answer is simple:

THE HORNETS MUST MAKE A TRADE TO ACQUIRE ANOTHER SCORER TO HAVE ANY CHANCE OF ADVANCING DEEP INTO THE POST SEASON!

Thanks to one of the greatest inventions ever, the ESPN trade machine, below you will find several deals that make sense for the Hornets (warning: some of these deals are quite far-fetched).

Trade #2 is my personal favorite.

You’ll notice that Julian Wright is part of nearly every Hornets deal.  I have nothing against JuJu, in fact, I think he’s a tremendous guy and he’s going to be a very good player…..I just have him in most deals because his potential makes him the Hornets only valuable trading chip.
