Tyson Talk

Look, it’s no secret now…the Hornets are shopping Tyson Chandler in an attempt to get under the NBA’s luxury tax for next season.

But the big question is:  Can the Hornets pick up a good player or players for a post season run…and does that player (or players) have an expiring contract that can come off the Hornets books this summer?

Here are some deals that may work….some of these trades are very very very far-fetched…other make sense!

Outgoing Players: Lamar Odom, Sun Yue

WHY:  Lakers get size (and a Los Angeles native) to replace the injured Andrew Bynum.  Hornets get a talented, versitile playoff tested player in Odom….but would these teams help each other?
(Odom’s 14 million dollar salary comes off the books this summer.)

WHY: Free-agent-to-be Daniels would provide nice offensive punch….but Larry Bird reportedly loves Jeff Foster….would he give him up for Chandler?

Salary: $11,350,000  Years Remaining: 3
PTS: 8.8  REB: 8.3  AST: 0.5  PER: 14.18

Outgoing Players: Brent Barry, Ron Artest

WHY: These division rivals did a deal last season so helping each other is not out of the question.  The gamble for both team’s is how will the players gel?  Will Chandler fit-in with Yao and McGrady?  Will Artest (who’s a free agent this summer) make the Hornets tougher defensively and not cause any head-aches for the franchise?  Barry is a solid shooter the Hornets tried to acquire three years ago who’d be good off the bench.

Outgoing Players: Allen Iverson, Kwame Brown
WHY:  The most insane trade on this blog!  I could never see AI and CP3 in th same back-court….but I guess you never know.  Iverson would no doubt help sell tickets and jersey’s and the Hornets would free-up 20 million in salary this summer.

Outgoing Players: J.

WHY:  This is the deal I like best.  The Hornets get a shooter (Wally), a great combo guard (West), a young player (Hickson)and an athletic big man (Varejao)….they’d also get 18 million in salary this summer.

  1. The Hornets need to try their hardest to keep Tyson, West and Paul together. Chris Paul signed a 3-year contract with the player option for the 4th year so the organization could keep his core players together. They get rid of one of them without making the team better for a chance at winning, he’ll be gone. And as Byron Scott always says, “that’s the bottom line”.

  2. all these trades aren’t any good

  3. Some of these trades sound far-fetched.
